*Possible trigger warning: miscarriage.*

"Really, George, it was a simple case. Even you and your team could have solved it. Why do you bore me with the easiest tasks?" Sherlock criticized Lestrade as he explained the latest case to him.
"It's Greg. And if I had something else I'd give it to you Sherlock, you know that."
"Sherlock give the poor man a break." John sighed as he entered the room.
Sherlock only rolled his eyes.
"Greg we've got a new case. There was body found on the roof of a bank down town." Sally explained marching into the room.
"Hear that Sherlock, we've got a new case. i suppose you'll want to come along." Greg grinned putting on his coat.
"I wouldn't miss it for the world." Sherlock exclaimed jumping up. "I'll meet you there!"
***
"She was obviously murdered by someone that worked in the building. security guard perhaps. It'd have to be someone that had access to this roof top between the hours of ten pm and two am going by an estimated time of death. The murderer would have had to be strong, well built to-" Sherlock's brilliant deduction was cut off by his phone ringing.
He sighed. "John answer this will you?" he asked handing his cell phone over.
John rolled his eyes but did as he was told.
"As I was saying: the person you're looking for is strong, most likely around the height of six foot two. I believes that narrows it down a bit. I mean there's only so many security guards in one building. only so many security guards fitting that description. Motive though, why was she mu-" He's cut off by John
"It's (Y/N). " John says. he sounds panicked
Sherlock snaps out of his little world holding out his hand for the phone.
You only ever called him if it was an emergency.
"Hello?"
"Sher-sherlock?" it was obvious you were crying, and Sherlock quickly tried to figure out why. There was one possibility that was itching the back of his mind but he didn't want to think about that right now.
"Yes, Why are you crying is everything alright?"
"I'm sorry...I-I'm so, so, so sor-ry Sherlock." You sobbed. "It hurts"
"Sorry for what? What's wrong?" he was getting antsy. something was wrong and he didn't know what. he didn't like not knowing.
"There's so much..."
"So  much what? (Y/N) I need you to talk to me. I can't help you if I don't know what's wrong." He looked up to find that everyone was looking at him. Lestrade looked concerned. John was obviously worried. Even Sally and Anderson looked at him like he was human for once.
"The-there's so much blood Sherlock...I'm sorry. I'm sorry."
"I'll be there soon."
He knew it the moment he heard you crying the idea had been gnawing at the back of his mind, his fear was confirmed.
he hung up the phone walking towards the door that lead back down stairs.
"Where are you going?" Lestrade asked.
"Baker street, (Y/N) needs me. John, come with me she'll need a doctor. Gavin if you could call an ambulance and send it over that'd be helpful." And with that he was gone. John soon disappeared with him.
Baker street was only a few blocks over. Taking a cab would take to long. He made off in a sprint, John running as fast as he could behind him.

When he got up stairs he ran through the house searching for you, finding you in the bathroom curled up on the floor.
the toilet was full of blood and the tiles beneath you were covered as well. The breath hitched in Sherlock's throat at the sight.
you were sobbing clutching your stomach.
"Sherlock?"
"Yeah, i'm here." He mumbled gathering you in his arms as carefully as he could fully aware that his actions could cause you more pain.
you were shaking and emotional and in a state of shock.
John made his way into the room eyes widening as he put everything together.
You could here the sound of sirens from outside.
The ambulance was here. Sherlock lifted you up slowly and you clutched onto his shirt as he carried you down the stairs to the paramedics.
He put you down on the gurney and you grabbed his hand still crying and apologizing even though it wasn't your fault. You didn't cause this and you couldn't stop it.
You were wheeled away from him but held on to his hand until the last second.
With no emotion evident on his face Sherlock turned to John who was still in shock "we should get to Bart's"
***
It had been almost three hours since he got the phone call.
he was sitting with john in the waiting room of St. Bartholomew's Hospital tapping his foot impatiently.
Neither of the men had said anything.
Sherlock because he didn't know what to say. John because he didn't know what to say.
you were two and a half months pregnant. Only Sherlock knew.
Sherlock wasn't one to open express emotions. it took him three years to admit that he loved you. But this was his child. His son or daughter died before they were even born.
He could feel the tears well up in his eyes and he tried to blink them away but they only fell down his cheeks.
"I'm sorry mate." John offered looking at his friend.
"Sorry for what? You didn't do anything."
"It's an expression Sherlock...I'm sorry for your loss. I had no idea that she was even pregnant...You would have been a good father. Still might be someday."
Sherlock didn't respond for a while.
"That was going to be my child John...She was carrying my baby." He shook his head. "My baby..."
John Watson had seen Sherlock cry before, but never this much.
He was broken.

***
"Sherlock I'm sorry..."
"No, shhh. It wasn't your fault...It was an abnormal number of chromosomes...Nothing you could control. Just sleep."
You nodded and Sherlock sat down in the plastic chair next to the bed holding your hand in his just waiting for this all to be over.
